skills for life

I  learned some important things for immigrants, especially for newcomers from Skills for Life in the LINC 4-5 class.  I would like to list them below to share with others.
1.Self- Esteem.  This talks about  how you  feel about  yourself.  You think you are feeling  happy or  bad, successful or disappointed, and so on.
2.Harmful listening  roles.  This shows how  harmful listening negatively affects us. For example, " You are wrong(evaluation response), "I think you should..."(advice giving response).
3.Active listening.  We demonstrate that we understand what they are saying from their point of view, rather than our own with active listening.
4.Pleasure List. When we are feeling unhappy, bad, or frustrated, we should take out our Pleasure List and do something on the list or imagine doing them.  Our mood might change.
5.Cultural diversity.   Canada is a multicultural country.  The more you learn from other country, the better you could communicate with other people.
 6. I  Message.  This allows us to express  our feelings, thoughts, and  perceptions.
7. Giving  Feedback.  It could be better for people to use I Messages than You Messages.
8.You Message.  It is negative message in some situation.  Therefore, it is better  for people to use I Message to express theirselves.
